Efter några år med utställningsprojekt i England och Tyskland är The Pineapple Project Room tillbaka där det en gång i tiden startade, dvs. i Malmö, Sverige. Det handlar inte om ett nytt fysiskt utställningsrum utan om en naturlig uppgradering av vår mobila filosofi. Vi vill tänja på utställnings- begreppet och flyttar vår galleri-verksamhet till CD-ROM'ens virtuella värld. After a couple of years on the road in UK and Germany, The Pineapple Project Room is back where it once started...in Malmö, Sweden. It's not about a new physical exhibition space, rather a natural refinement and updating of our mobile philosophy. We would like to stretch our exhibition concept and therefore we move our activities to the virtual world of a CD-rom space.
Titeln på The Pineapple's nya projektrum/plattform är SPACELESS. Eftersom Pineapple är ett projektrum för samtidskonst med möjligheter att visa 'work in progress' vill vi också själva hela tiden förändra och undersöka möjligheterna att visa konst. Alla känner den vita kuben, men hur modellera ett bestående rum eller en yta för att skapa upplevelser och kommunicera med konst?
The Pineapple's mål är att med nyfikenhet kontinuerligt 'gå vidare och tänja'. Vi ser på vårt arbete med att rumsligt socialisera konstscenen som en ständigt pågående research och konstnärlig process.		 The title of the new project space/platform is SPACELESS. While Pineapple is a project room for contemporary art with the possibilities to show 'work in progress', we ourselves want to continuously change and explore different opportunities to show art. Everybody knows the 'White Cube', but how to model an ever lasting space or a surface for experiences and to be communicative with art? The goal of The Pineapple is always to go further on and with curiousity stretch the limits.
It is a continuous progress and research and we look upon our work to spatially socialize the art scene as a process of artistry.
SPACELESS arbetar dynamiskt mellan plats och icke-plats. Samtidigt som CD'en är enkel att distribuera och kan dyka upp kollektivt på dataskärmar globalt, så är alltid det sociala mötet viktigt för oss. SPACELESS works dynamically between site and non-site. At the same time as the CD is easy to worldwide distribute and may show up collectively on computer screens globally, so is always the social gathering important for us.
Därför, i och med den första utgåvan, anordnar vi ett första nedslag och inbjuder dig till vårt release-party i Electrohype-ROM i Malmö. Therefore, on the occasion of our first issue, we will organize a release-party at Electrohype-ROM in Malmö, Sweden.

Kort historik. Short history
Idéen att starta ett oberoende konstnärsdrivet galleri eller snarare ett projektrum för samtidskonst i Malmö föddes under sommaren 1995. Ett år senare tillkom namnet och i januari 1997 såg första utställningen dagens ljus. Orsaken var bristen på en dynamisk och pluralistisk konstscen. Grundläggande för verksamheten var kommunikation, networking och en kollegial atmosfär. Att socialisera konstscenen och etablera en visuell/politisk/social/icke- kommersiell plattform med en internationell profil var viktigt för att stimulera ett kreativt flöde.

The first steps to kick off an independent artist run space based on communication, net-working and a collaborative atmosphere emerged in the summer
of 1995. One year later, the name was born and the first exhibition saw daylight in January 1997. The driving force was the lack of a dynamic and
pluralistic art scene in Malmö, Sweden.
Socializing the art scene, establishing a visual/political/social/non-profit platform with an international profile, was important to stimulate a creative flow.
Under våren år 2000 var The Pineapple med och startade Sparwasser HQ i Berlin. Nu är vi delägare i det relativt nystartade Galleri ID:I i Stockholm.
Första utställningen där presenterade ett samarbete med elever vid Malmö Konsthögskola, en 10 poängskurs med titeln 'The exhibition space as a tool for artistic practice'. Sista fysiska utställningen i Malmö slutade i december 1999 med den amerikanske konstnären Mike Ballou. Sedan dess har utställningsprojekten avlöst varandra i Tyskland och England. Alla dessa år av utställningar, club events, artist talks, internet projekt och mycket annat har naturligt lett fram till att vi idag vill gå vidare och utveckla våra mobila
strategier. Det är också ett resultat av vårt namn i dess helhet, The Pineapple Project Room - mobile space for contemporary art.
Ett första steg är SPACELESS!		 During the spring of 2000, The Pineapple was co-founder of Sparwasser HQ in Berlin. Now, were co-owner of the recently started ID:I Gallery in Stockholm. The first show presented a collaboration with students at the art academy in Malmö, a 10 points tutorial course entitled 'The exhibition space as a tool for artistic practice'. The last physical exhibition in Malmö took place in December 1999 were we presented the American artist Mike Ballou. Then, the exhibition
projects have followed one after another in Germany and UK. All these years of exhibitions, projects, exchanges, club events, net projects, artist talks and much more have naturally led to the fact that we will today go further on and develop our mobile strategies.
It's also a result of the name of our label in full... The Pineapple Project Room - mobile space for contemporary art.
